Case Study — Climatinha Authorial Universe · Illustrated Social Critique · Since 2023

After years building identities for third parties, a central realization emerged: the rigor of corporate systems could support an authorial universe. Climatinha is that universe — in continuous development since 2023.

In a client project, consistency serves the brand. Here, visual and narrative consistency work together to build a point of view about the world.

01 — The Universe

Illustrated social critique, deliberately Brazilian.

Climatinha is aimed at a young audience living the reality of the streets. The themes are contemporary and Brazilian: the absurdity of everyday life, popular faith, pop culture, and urban behavior.

The sacred meets the profane through irony and sarcasm.

The central platform is Instagram @climatinha, where each piece operates within an established visual system — a restricted palette and characteristic line — so that the universe is immediately recognizable, yet always expandable.

02 — First Product

Numbered mugs: the important decision wasn't the object, it was the delivery protocol.

The first physical product was a set of mugs with four fundamental illustrations. Each mug receives a serial number and a handwritten dedication — turning the transaction into a relationship.

The Piece: The buyer acquires a specific, numbered piece of the universe
The Number: The serial number implies finitude, rarity, and belonging
The Experience: From packaging to post-purchase, the complete logistics were designed as part of the identity — authorial creative direction includes directing the experience

03 — What Comes Next

The entire page
is the picture.

The next expansion is Climagazine: a 70-page authorial comic that breaks with traditional conventions. There are no panels or fixed grids — the narrative flows through composition.

This structural decision reflects the themes addressed — AI, the uberization of work, and contemporary addictions — which do not fit into Cartesian grids. They demand a page that breathes in the reader's anxiety.

04 — What It Demonstrates

What this designer does when no one is directing.

Climatinha demonstrates three critical dimensions of authorial direction:

D·01

Visual system

From the line to the palette, maintaining coherence across hundreds of pieces.

D·02

Long-term narrative

Sustaining a consistent voice that evolves without repeating.

D·03

Product vision

From visual concept to delivery protocol as part of the identity.

Creative direction is not a commercial function.
It is a way of thinking.

The Mugs — Four Fundamental Illustrations

Você Morre! mug with a cartoon Marlboro pack, on a bar table

M·01

You Die!

A classic of dark humor. Direct critique of modern addiction and the rat race, ideal for those who start the day with strong coffee and bitter truths.

High no Rio! mug with a stoner and a devil, on a balcony overlooking the beach

M·02

High in Rio!

Scorching sun, smoke in the air, and the devil at the barbecue. In the Rio de Janeiro setting, even hell takes a vacation to enjoy a breeze on the hill. Acid humor and hot weather, literally.

Baralho Anarquista! mug with masked-anarchist playing cards, on a bar table with snacks

M·03

Anarchist Deck!

Inspired by classic decks of cards, this one is for those who play by their own rules. A toast to revolt with style and to irony as a philosophy of life.

Santo Subversivo! mug with saint-and-devil playing cards, on a bakery counter

M·04

Subversive Saint!

A meeting between faith and mockery. Saints reinvented in a pop and irreverent style, to remind us that even the sacred has its human and somewhat profane side.
